Glenn Keithly
Hammond / Piano / Keyboards / Vocals
When he was just a wee little boy, Glenn used to bang away at his parent’s piano, trying to make music. Finally at the age of seven, his parents grew eager to discover his potential (okay, they got tired of the noise). They took him to his first classical piano lesson with the honorable Anne Barquist at Konocti Keyboards Piano Studio. When he got to high school, Glenn enrolled in the Kelseyville High School Jazz band, where he learned to play jazz piano from his band director, Tom Aiken, who is also a pianist and Chico graduate. Jazz opened up a whole new musical world for Glenn. Fascinated by the fresh creative outlets involved with jazz, he very quickly developed some serious chops (okay, he already had the chops, but now he knew how to use them). In tenth grade, he was recruited to play in a local jazz band where he played numerous gigs throughout high school with various other jazz musicians. He enrolled in the music program at Chico State in the fall of 2000. While at Chico, Glenn began to play new types of music including funk, rock, and jam. He met Gonzo while playing in the band Nine Balls Deep. When Gonzo introduced Glenn to Marcus at a Nine Balls Deep gig, Marcus heard Glenn play and offered him a beer under the condition that, "you have to come to our next rehearsal", Marcus said. Glenn was already in five bands at the time, but was eager to party at the moment. Little did Glenn know it would prove to be the best decision of his musical career.
Although Glenn still tears it up on the keyboards with Chingus, he pursued his other passion in college and graduated Chico in the spring of 2005 with a degree in electrical / electronic engineering and a minor in math and music. Glenn currently resides in Martinez, CA and has a career in engineering. He is also known as the "band’s geek".
