A former student of funk tenor monster Tom Politzer (Tower of Power), ‘A-Dub’ graduated in 2006 from CSU, Chico with a B.A. in jazz performance. While attending, he was the sole recipient of the Col. Jack H. Taylor U.S.A.F Jazz Scholarship, as well as two Music Faculty scholarships for performance. In college under the tutelage of renowned trumpeter / instructor Michael ‘Rocky’ Winslow, Walter honed his skills as a recording and performing artist, composer, arranger and bandleader. As a member of the infamous jam-band Chingus (two time winners of the Chico News & Review’s Cammie awards in ’06 & ’07), leader of the Midnight Six jazz sextet (house band for 33 Steaks, Booze & Jazz in ’06), as well as playing with various university ensembles, Walter has been known to draw a crowd and never failed to impress.

Now back in the south bay area after a stint in Houston, Texas - Walter is continuing to collaborate and compose with a wide range of projects throughout the greater bay area and northern California including Swing City, Left Coastin, Thaw Jack Frost, The Benny’s, Hip-hop & Solo projects, The General Jones Blues Band, Church Orchestras and of course Chingus.
